Robbie Robinson
Robbie Robinson is a man after God’s own heart! He is married to Emily Robinson and they have 6 children together. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Discover Hope 517 Ministry and Pastor of New Creation Church in Newton, IA. He loves being loud and spending time with his family. He enjoys weightlifting and playing basketball. In his spare time, he loves to sit with the Lord! Sharing the gospel message is his heartbeat!

Doug Cupples
Executive Chairman
Doug Cupples was born in Grinnell and moved to Newton when he was 7. Doug is married to Missy Cupples, and they have 3 children: Lexie, Bailey, and Cade. Doug attended Crown College and has been involved in ministry for 30 years. He currently works at Lauterbach Buick GMC and serves as a board member on the Jasper County Board of Supervisors. His passion is preaching the gospel and caring for people and his hobbies are lifting and nutrition. Doug has been on the board here at Discover Hope 517 since 2023.

Sara Dunsbergen
Treasure
Sara is the current treasurer at Discover Hope since January of 2024. She is married to the love of her life, Kory, and has been a Newton-ite for 18 years. She and Kory have three amazing adult kids – Grant, Emma and Lauren. Sara works at Dimensions Accounting in Newton and loves traveling, trying new foods, and learning new things!

Dan Kingery
Board Member
Dan Kingery has over forty years’ human services experience. He started his career supporting families and communities in crisis, monitoring cases of child abuse and neglect on behalf of the courts and foster care system. He went on to serve as parole officer in both the Iowa juvenile and adult systems. He has pastored a church on a Native American reservation and worked as a chaplain. Dan has held executive level roles in national prison ministries, including twenty years with Prison Fellowship. Dan had various leadership roles with Prison Fellowship starting in 2000, leveraging his understanding of community development to help architect and launch life-changing programs for people living and working behind bars. He retired in 2024 from Prison Fellowship as an Executive Vice President.
The Lord has built in Dan a passion for individual and organizational optimization. He lovesconnecting with people to foster personal flourishing. He has an eye for potential and a heart for the broken. Dan enjoys strategic program design and implementation to promote Kingdom culture and systemic rejuvenation. He has a shepherding, teaching and leadership gifting profile and is almost exclusively drawn to the hedges and highways and those who are found there.
Dan earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at Iowa State University. Dedicated to grassroots leadership, he has served on boards of ministries, churches, and reentry service providers. Dan and his wife of 40 years live in Newton, Iowa, and have one daughter. They share a love of outdoor activities, reading, and community involvement.
